This year’s whirlwind awards season is coming to a close, but it wouldn’t be complete without the 2023 SAG Awards and its star-studded red carpet. Hollywood’s top talents certainly didn’t disappoint tonight, favouring a more irreverent attitude one expects from the SAGs. For the event at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Century City, California, celebrities chose striking ensembles that were filled with whimsical colours, rich textures, and interesting silhouettes.

When Zendaya hit the carpet, the Internet was instantly abuzz with reactions to the Euphoria star’s look. Giving her love of vintage garments a rest, she chose a custom, strapless pink Valentino silk bustier gown complete with a train adorned with 190 pink silk rosettes. Best actress nominee Michelle Yeoh also embraced a dress with embellishment: Her Schiaparelli couture design was lined with fringed gold sequins along the front. Party in the front, sleek in the back!

There was also a real emphasis on colour. Jessica Chastain shined in her pink, off-the-shoulder Zuhair Murad ball gown; Viola Davis brought a ray of sunshine to the red carpet in her Valentino column dress, also fitted off the shoulder. In Dior couture, Elizabeth Debicki opted for a mossier green design that subtly made a statement.

As for the best-dressed men of the night, the top award must go to Eddie Redmayne, who chose a white bow-tied shirt and black dress pants from Saint Laurent’s fall 2023 collection (one of the best menswear shows of the season). Eschewing a blazer in favour of a statement necktie was fresh and modern. Elvis star Austin Butler embraced a tailored Gucci three-piece suit, complete with a spiffy bowtie.
