It’s no secret that Jisoo is a Dior darling. Nicknamed “Human Dior” by fashion insiders and Blackpink’s dedicated fans “Blinks” alike, the South Korean singer and actress has become one of the most well-known faces of the French maison, proving worthy of her title as global ambassador for Dior fashion and beauty.

At the Dior Autumn/Winter 2022 show in Paris, Jisoo stepped out in a yellow plaid dress worn over a white collared top and black tie, styled with a black Mini Cannage Lady Dior bag and classic stilettos that added just the right amount of refinement to the youthful look. To say that she set the internet abuzz with this outfit would be an understatement: the K-pop star’s Instagram post, which featured her flaunting the Clueless-esque look under a giant Dior logo sign, racked up a whopping $1.74 million USD in media impact value according to Launchmetrics. Even Cher Horowitz could never!

Less than one month after her appearance in Paris and just a days after the release of Jisoo’s Dior SS22 campaign, Dior has announced that it will host a runway show in the singer’s native Seoul. “This year, the house is forging new powerful ties with the Republic of Korea,” said Pietro Beccari, Dior chairman and CEO in an official statement. This news comes as no surprise as the Hallyu wave sweeps the globe, evident from Jisoo’s influence in fashion and beyond.

Ahead of Dior’s first return to South Korea in 15 years, here is everything you need to know about the French luxury house’s upcoming runway show.

What collection will Maria Grazia Chiuri show in South Korea?

Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri will show Dior’s pre-fall 2022 collection, which is characterised by the viral yellow tartan print seen on Jisoo at Paris Fashion Week this February. Lending a rebellious punk twist to traditional school-girl uniforms, Chirui’s pre-fall 2022 collection celebrates female power and pays tribute to Christian Dior’s younger sister Catherine, who fought in the French résistance during World War II.

This show will mark only the second time Dior has chosen to display its pre-fall collection on the runway, the first being its pre-fall 2021 presentation last year at The Long Museum in Shanghai.

When will the runway show be held?

The show will be held on April 30th 2022.

Where will the show take place?

The runway show will be staged at Ewha Women’s University in Seoul, marking the first time a fashion show has been held at a university campus in South Korea. Founded in 1886, the university was the first female educational institution to be established in the country and has now become one of the largest women’s universities in the world.

Dior has also partnered with Ewha Women’s University to host its international mentoring and training programme Women@Dior, which was launched in 2017 to provide education and career guidance for female university students across all disciplines. Titled “Dream For Change”, the Women@Dior programme officially kicked off in March 2022 at Ewha.

Has Dior staged a show in South Korea before?

Yes. In 2007, the year of Dior’s 60th anniversary, the French luxury house took part in the Asia-Pacific Fashion Show that took place at the Seoul Olympic Park.

Last but most importantly…will Blackpink’s Jisoo be there?

While there have been no official announcements from Jisoo, Dior or Blackpink’s agency YG Entertainment, it is widely assumed that the artist will make an appearance at the show given that it is hosted in her home country. We will have to wait and see!
