The fires of “Single’s Inferno” Season 5 have finally cooled, but the real drama begins in the real world once the cameras stop rolling. Historically, the show has a notoriously poor track record; despite the high-stakes romance of the previous four seasons, none of the couples are officially together today. From fleeting “show-mances” to immediate breakups, fans have learned to manage their expectations.
With Season 5 however, we can finally believe in love and reality shows again. From heartwarming long-distance devotion to surprising second chances, the “Singles Inferno Reunion” episode and recent social updates have finally given us the “happily ever after” we’ve been craving.
Here is everything you need to know about the current relationship status of our favourite islanders.
Lim Su-been and Park Hee-sun
If you’re looking for a reason to believe in reality TV romance, look no further. During the reunion episodes, it was officially confirmed that Lim Su-been and Park Hee-sun are still going strong.
However, their journey wasn’t without its hurdles. Su-been admitted to initial hesitation regarding the prospect of a long-distance relationship. This uncertainty led to a period where he was largely unresponsive, nearly stalling the romance before it could truly begin. Ultimately, he chose to commit after realising Hee-sun’s stay in the US wasn’t permanent.
The couple endured a grueling six-month period of separation, maintaining their bond through calls five days a week. The wait is finally over, as Hee-sun has returned to Korea as an exchange student at Seoul National University. Watching them during the reunion, it was clear they are now inseparable, with Su-been cheekily referring to himself as Hee-sun’s “pet”.
Lee Joo-young and Kim Jae-jin
While they didn’t give us a definitive “yes”, the chemistry between Lee Joo-young and Kim Jae-jin is hard to ignore. Fellow contestant Youn Hyun-jae hinted during the reunion that the two are definitely seeing each other. Joo-young confirmed they remain in constant contact, with Jae-jin frequently attending her art exhibitions and Joo-young returning the favour by supporting his dance shows.
Choi Mina Sue and Lee Sung-hun
Choi Mina Sue and Lee Sung-hun are no longer together. Sung-hun has returned to his fast-paced life as a quant trader in New York, teasing on the Ha Sisters’ podcast that he has signed contracts for future Korean television appearances. He has also recently been spotted with someone new, suggesting he has moved on.
Kim Go-eun and Woo Sung-min
While Kim Go-eun ultimately walked off the beach with Woo Sung-min, their flame was short-lived once they returned to the real world. Though the pair met up a couple of times after filming concluded, the connection quickly fizzled out. Part of the distance was intentional; the two reportedly didn’t want to spend too much time together in public to avoid spoiling the show’s ending for the viewers.
Kim Go-eun and Jo I-geon
In what we consider to be the season’s most frustrating fumble, Jo I-geon and Kim Go-eun failed to leave the island together despite having the most palpable chemistry of the cast. I-geon’s tendency to mention fellow contestant Lee Ha Eun led to a misunderstanding that partially drove Go-eun toward her final choice of Sung-min.
However, the post-show reunion episodes have been very interesting. During a screening of their season, both were surprised by how genuine their attraction truly was (especially during the steamy paradise pool date) and decided to share dinner and drinks after. They reflected on their lack of communication and how things might have differed if they hadn’t let outside noise—and mutual friends—interfere. While it’s still unclear if they are officially dating, they remain the ultimate “OTP” for fans hoping for a second chance.
Song Seung-il and Kim Min-gee
In a disappointing turn for fans of the duo, Kim Min-gee revealed during the reunion that she was ultimately ghosted by Song Seung-il after the show concluded.
