Many hotel suites are simply luxurious. A rare few become part of a city’s cultural identity, remembered not for their scale but for the unmistakable sense of place they command. For more than ten years, high above the ceaseless churn of Hyde Park Corner, The Lanesborough’s Presidential Suite belonged to the latter: a room admired less for its scale than for the unmistakable sense of place it commands, where the whole sweep of London seems to gather at the window. Now that story turns a page, and what follows is not a break with the past but a continuation of it.

This autumn, The Lanesborough has unveiled a comprehensive reimagining of the suite by Studio Pierre-Yves Rochon (PYR), the internationally acclaimed interior architecture practice founded in Paris in 1979. It is the most significant evolution of the hotel’s finest accommodation since its original design—yet, true to the studio’s instinct, it treats the building’s heritage as something to carry forward rather than sweep aside. Rather than replacing history, PYR has chosen to continue it.
The redesign rests on a simple conviction: that true luxury is rarely a matter of excess. It lies instead in proportion, craftsmanship and permanence. Historic silk textiles, bespoke marquetry, exceptional furniture, and architectural detail have been preserved wherever possible, while new interventions restore light, balance, and renewed clarity throughout the residence. Drawing on the elegant language of Regency interiors and the plasterwork of Robert Adam, the suite now feels brighter, calmer and more intimately connected to the magnificent building around it.

The building itself is part of the appeal. The Lanesborough occupies one of the few freestanding landmark structures in London, uncrowded by its neighbours, with uninterrupted views across Hyde Park, Wellington Arch and Green Park. Those remarkable perspectives sit at the heart of the new scheme, with interiors conceived to draw daylight deep inside and to create an effortless dialogue between the rooms and the city beyond the windows. The result, in the end, is less a hotel suite than an exceptional London home.

Flexibility is central to that ambition. Designed as a private residence, the Presidential Suite can be configured as a one-, two-, three- or five-bedroom apartment, allowing families, multi-generational travellers, long-stay guests and private groups to enjoy one of London’s most exclusive addresses in complete privacy. Elegant reception rooms, expansive terraces and beautifully appointed bedrooms lend the whole an atmosphere that is unmistakably residential, while the hotel’s legendary butler service ensures each stay remains entirely individual.

Guests are looked after by dedicated butlers available around the clock, alongside a thoughtfully curated programme of personalised daily amenities, bespoke London experiences, and access to an exclusive collection of luxury and high-performance vehicles — all included within the suite rates.

“The Signature Presidential Suite represents much more than a refurbishment,” says Stuart Geddes, Managing Director of The Lanesborough. “It reflects our vision for the future of luxury hospitality. Today’s discerning traveller is seeking privacy, flexibility and experiences that are deeply personal. We have created a residence that feels as much like an exceptional London home as it does one of the world’s finest hotel suites.”

The collaboration reinforces The Lanesborough’s enduring commitment to design excellence, with PYR allowing heritage and material quality to guide every decision rather than imposing a contemporary signature. And so, from September 2026, the doors open once more. The silks that could never be rewoven still hang at the windows; the light that once got lost now travels freely across the rooms; and a suite that helped define a certain idea of London hospitality begins, quietly and confidently, to write its next chapter — waiting, as it always has, for whoever is fortunate enough to call it home for a night, a week, or a season.
