Jalan

Since last year, a number of Southeast Asian restaurants have popped up in Hong Kong. New restaurant JALAN is one such spot, serving up modernised versions of Malaysian street food, from beef rendang samosas to LFC (Laksa Fried Chicken). With their Pandan Custard Doughnuts and 1970s Borneo-inspired interiors, we expect Jalan to be very insta-friendly.

ZEST

Award-winning chef Mitsuru Konishi opens ZEST, a two-level restaurant set to deliver French-Japanese cuisine in a playful way, but with the same fine execution as his previous exploits. The restaurant’s Dining Room will focus on dinner a la carte and degustation menus, while The Lounge on the lower floor will play tribute to Japanese culture, with delectable bento boxes and Japan-inspired craft cocktails.

Peony Garden

A nostalgic teahouse recently opened at the Xiqu centre. The garden-style design and retro wooden furnishings are a nod to the traveller rest-stops that was once ubiquitous across ancient China. Expect tea-house favourites such as fried chicken with fried garlic, traditional roast chicken, and street-style cart noodles. Chef Chen will also be showcasing a few of his own more unique creations such as the homemade stewed goose soup with preserved lemon.
