“Balancing aesthetics, functionality, and family-friendliness is at the heart of my design approach,” Guttieres explains. “I start by understanding the client’s lifestyle, daily routines, and specific needs, which helps me prioritise what features are essential for functionality and comfort.”

This philosophy translates into thoughtful material choices and versatile solutions. Guttieres selects durable, low-maintenance materials and adaptable furniture that can withstand the beautiful chaos of family life while maintaining their visual appeal. Every element serves a dual purpose: pleasing the eye while standing up to real- world demands.

Central to her design philosophy is the power of open-plan living. “Open-plan designs encourage social interaction and create versatile environments that adapt to different needs and lifestyles,” she says. Yet these flowing spaces never feel undefined. Through layered lighting, contrasting flooring materials, and strategic furniture placement, Guttieres creates distinct zones within the openness—spaces that breathe together while maintaining their individual character.

When it comes to luxury, Guttieres takes a refreshingly grounded approach. “In the context of day-to-day life, I define ‘luxury’ as the seamless integration of comfort, quality, and personalisation into everyday living,” she shares. For her, true indulgence isn’t about ostentation—it’s found in ergonomic furniture that supports your body, in atmospheres that calm your mind, and in details that make daily life not just bearable, but beautiful.

Her work across two of Asia’s most dynamic cities—Hong Kong and Dubai—has sharpened her ability to read and respond to different cultural contexts. While both cities share a love for bold, high-density architecture, their souls are distinctly different. “In Hong Kong, there’s a blend of traditional Chinese elements with modern urban living, leading to interiors that balance heritage with innovation,” Guttieres observes. “Conversely, Dubai’s design often incorporates luxurious, opulent materials and a sense of grandeur.”

Sometimes, client requests push Guttieres into uncharted creative territory. She recalls one particularly memorable challenge: a client who wanted their home to offer extreme privacy while also functioning as a vibrant entertainment hub. “This challenge pushed me to reimagine conventional boundaries—combining elements of soundproofing, hidden rooms, and flexible layouts to create a versatile environment,” she says.

The solution was ingenious: concealed doors that opened into expansive multi- purpose areas, and a hidden indoor garden that offered a peaceful retreat from the social spaces. The result was a home that could transform at will—from sanctuary to social hub and back again.

For Guttieres, this project exemplified her core belief about what makes a home truly exceptional. “It’s about making daily routines effortless and enjoyable, so that luxury becomes an inherent part of life rather than just an aesthetic. Ultimately, true luxury is found in spaces that nurture, inspire, and adapt to the needs of those who live in them.”
