Davide Groppi doesn’t merely design lamps. He creates instruments that whisper rather than shout, interventions so subtle they transform how we experience space itself. Guided by five fundamental ingredients—simplicity, weightlessness, emotion, creative invention, and amazement—each piece emerges from a need to bring something necessary or significant to life. Art, ready-made objects, magic, the simple urge to play with light—these sparks of inspiration become tangible through the hands of Groppi and his faithful collaborators, who have shared his vision from the beginning.
Imagine a dining table suddenly feeling more intimate, a gallery becoming ethereal, a medieval castle speaking to the present while honouring its past. This is what Groppi’s lights achieve: they shape atmosphere the same way walls shape rooms.
The world’s most celebrated chefs understood this power. Massimo Bottura, Albert Adrià, Massimiliano Alajmo, Carlo Cracco—they chose Groppi’s lighting for their restaurants, recognising that light could enhance a meal’s emotional resonance as profoundly as any ingredient on the plate. In these spaces, culinary art meets spatial poetry through illumination.
International recognition followed, including multiple Compasso d’Oro ADI Awards for NULLA and SAMPEI in 2014 and ANIMA in 2024. Edida Awards in 2011 and 2024. But perhaps most meaningfully, Groppi’s creations now illuminate Italy’s cultural heart: SAMPEI and ORIGINE floor lamps grace the Quirinal Palace in Rome, while ORIGINE enriches the Italian Embassy to the Holy See, proving that contemporary vision can dialogue beautifully with centuries of history.
When Groppi’s philosophy arrived in Hong Kong in 2023 through ANARTA Limited, it brought this Italian approach to light in new conversations with contemporary Asian design. Here, lighting reveals itself not as decoration but as spatial storytelling—creating intimacy, drama, and emotion within modern kitchens and living spaces, transforming everyday environments into something extraordinary.
