90年代最備受矚目的情侶 ── 美國前總統之子John F. Kennedy Jr.與時尚公關Carolyn Bessette ，由相識、秘密結婚再到成為遺憾的愛情故事，因着劇集《愛情故事：甘迺迪與貝塞特》（Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette）的上架再一次備受關注。在加拿大男演員Paul Anthony Kelly和女新星Sarah Pidgeon的詮釋下，他們不退流行的極簡穿搭風格亦得以再次呈現世人眼前，當然還包括那枚富有傳奇色彩的訂婚戒指。

隨後，喜愛低調且極為重視隱私的二人於1996年在佐治亞州的黃瓜島秘密結婚。身著吊帶婚紗的Carolyn Bessette，讓籠罩着一層神秘面紗的求婚戒指初次曝光，並永載史冊。從廖廖可數的珍貴照片中，可得知Carolyn Bessette所收到的一枚求婚戒指是以鉑金材質打造，且參照了第一夫人稱之為「游泳戒指」(Swimming Ring) 的款式，採用永恆戒指的設計。整個鉑金指環交替鑲嵌着大小相近的鑽石和藍寶石。簡約設計不但體現了Carolyn Bessette對永恆美感的追求，亦與當時流行的極繁主義風格截然不同，超前地引領着極簡風格的潮流。

甚麼是永恆戒指？
永恆戒指主要可分為「永恆」和「半永恆」兩大類別，前者是以鑽石環繞整個指環，後者則僅於手指指背的一面鑲嵌鑽石，較適合日常佩戴。至於Carolyn Bessette所擁有的一枚，便是在整個鉑金指環交替鑲嵌鑽石和藍寶石的「永恆」款式。值得留意的是，此枚獨一無二的戒指不是大家所想像的高昂價格。根據專家估計，它的價值大約在10,000美元到13,000美元之間。
