Versace’s Autumn/Winter 2020 show marked the first time the brand presented both its menswear and womenswear collections on the runway together. Through the looks, Donatella Versace wished to convey both “hyper-femininity” and “hyper-masculinity,” while creating a consistency in design details such as floral and zebra prints, pinstripes and traditional checks.

While statement daywear, such as pinstriped denim, was a fresh look for Versace, recognisable house codes were evident in the eveningwear, with mini dresses given detail in the form of chain mail or crystal-embroidered necklines. While black and silver-grey formed a key colour palette, from a zebra-print maxi dress to various iterations of the Little Black Dress, this was punctuated by a psychedelic mix of fluorescent looks, incorporating both knitwear and denim.
