Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz-Beckham have had a whirlwind of a year. The young couple tied the knot this past April and attended their second Met Gala together while Nicola just wrapped filming a Hulu series, Welcome to Chippendales as Brooklyn works on honing his skills in the kitchen. Although the two haven’t even been wed 6 months, the lovestruck pair enjoy the trappings of married life, opting for cosy nights in and establishing quaint traditions like weekly trips to the farmer’s market.
While Nicola wasn’t the biggest fan of Brooklyn the first time they crossed paths (at Coachella no less), one night together on Halloween is all it took for the two to become inseparable. Nicola’s visit to Brooklyn in London sealed the deal. “Before she was about to leave, I bought the last seat on the plane and flew back to New York with her. That’s the moment I knew I never wanted to be separated from her.” And the rest is history.
Where do you both call home? What are your favourite things about London and LA?
We travel quite a bit, but when we’re together it always feels like home no matter where we are. Every time we go to London Brooklyn gets so excited to show me all the places he grew up. When we’re in LA we have our own little traditions that make us happy. Every Sunday we go to the farmers market and it’s the little things like that make it feel like home. Los Angeles is where we spend most of our time.
You both have many siblings. What was it like being part of such a large family? Are you looking to start a large family of your own someday?
Nicola: I couldn’t imagine my childhood without so many kids around. I love the beautiful hecticness that comes with having a huge family, I feel so lucky to be so close with all my siblings.
Brooklyn: It was nice to grow up with siblings so close to my age, we are very close.
Are you looking to start a large family of your own someday?
Nicola: My mom is my biggest idol and my best friend. I can’t wait to be a mom one day. I hope that I am just like her.
Brooklyn: Yes, I would love as many kids as possible, but it is really up to Nicola.
How does a relationship in the spotlight affect you both? How do you stay grounded with all of the external commentary and pressure and how do you two support each other during tough times?
We always have each other’s back, no matter what. At the end of the day we’re best friends and we wouldn’t have it any other way. We don’t think about our relationship as being in the spotlight we just think about us as being in a relationship.
Can you tell us some things on your bucket list to do together? What are some bucket list items you’ve already crossed off?
Nicola: I grew up going to the south of France most summers so being able to go there with Brooklyn on our honeymoon meant so much to me.
Going to the Met together, not once but now twice was definitely on our bucket list. It’s an honour to be invited by Anna and we hope to continue to be part of it for years to come.
Shooting our first campaign together was also on our bucket list. It didn’t feel like work, we had so much fun. We can’t wait to find to other ways to collaborate together again professionally.
When you first met Brooklyn, you weren’t his biggest fan. How did your opinion of him change that one Halloween party? Can you share a funny anecdote from before you started dating?
Nicola: I first met Brooklyn at Coachella through my brother Diesel. The first night we actually hung out was at that Halloween party and we have been inseparable ever since.
What is one quality that you treasure the most in each other?
Nicola: His kindness, his heart, and his sensitivity.
Brooklyn: She is perfect in every way.
Do you remember the moment that you realised you wanted to spend the rest of your lives together?
Nicola: That first trip in London when he bought the last seat on the plane and told me he didn’t want me to go without him.
Brooklyn: The first time she came to visit me in London. Before she was about to leave, I bought the last seat on the plane and flew back to New York with her. That’s the moment I knew I never wanted to be separated from her.
How did you get into cooking? What’s your favourite dish to cook / your favourite ingredients to use?
Brooklyn: I really fell in love with cooking in quarantine. My favourite dish to cook is bangers and mash. My favourite ingredient is thyme.
What are your next steps in cooking? Do you see yourself opening a restaurant at some point?

Tell us a little about your family dynamic. Who’s the loudest, the funniest, the most energetic, etc. in your family?
Brooklyn: Harper is the loudest, Cruz is the funniest and Romeo is the most energetic.
What’s an activity that you enjoy spending time with your mum? What about your dad?
Brooklyn: I love cooking and watching football with my dad. My mum has always had a house of boys until Harper, I love spending time with them together.

Brooklyn: Every single one of my tattoos means something. Probably my most meaningful ones are about my wife.
Dave Gardner and Elton John are your godparents. Do you have any fond memories with them? Have you ever been star struck meeting any celebrities?
Brooklyn: I always spent so much time around Elton’s house and really enjoyed spending time with him and his dogs. When my dad was playing football on the road, I remember Dave would always carry me around until I fell asleep in different cities.
Have you ever been star struck meeting any celebrities?
Brooklyn: I wouldn’t say I have been starstruck, but there are definitely people I have met that are artists or athletes that I admire.
You began your acting journey with theatre. What do you love about theatre that differs from the silver screen?
Nicola: One of my favourite jobs I’ve ever done was getting the opportunity to work with such incredibly talented people in Blackbird. It was truly a dream come true for me. Getting to learn from Jeff Daniels, Alison Pill, Joe Mantello every night was an irreplaceable experience at such a young age.
What type of roles would you like to play in the future?
Nicola: I love when I get to dive deep into a character that’s very different from me and I get to see the world through their eyes.
If you weren’t in entertainment, you said you’d like to be a homicide detective. What is it about this field that you find so fascinating? Are there any crime documentaries or podcasts you enjoy?
Nicola: The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst is one of my favourite documentaries I have ever seen. I find the psychology behind the human brain insanely fascinating and what makes people do what they do. I think that’s why I love acting so much.

Nicola: I grew up playing ice hockey and was a bit of a tomboy. I really enjoy walking it’s very cathartic for me, more mentally than physically. And I recently found a love for Pilates.
How would you describe your style? What is your favourite piece in your wardrobe currently?
Nicola: It really depends on my mood. I love fashion so much because it’s a way for me to express how I’m feeling that day. Since my dark hair I really feel my style evolving and have been having more fun with it. I love a good pair of boyfriend jeans.
What are some trends you’ve been loving lately? What makes an outfit timeless?
Nicola: Jennifer Fisher sent me her bangles recently and I am really into that trend. I think they can really make an outfit. I also think what makes an outfit timeless is not trying too hard.
