Behold, the dress that birthed Google Images. While most know the iconic jungle dress as Jennifer Lopez’s biggest fashion moment of all time, the jaw-dropping piece first appeared on the Versace Spring 2000 runway, five months earlier. Amber Valletta donned the sheer printed gown for the show’s finale, with none other than Donatella Versace by her side.

Shalom’s closing performance at the Alexander McQueen Spring/Summer 1999 show is often cited as one of the most potent, unforgettable moments in fashion runway history. Dressed in a voluminous white tulle frock with a belted neckline, Shalom is stood on a rotating platform, arms flailing in graceful performance as two industrial robots spray her with black and yellow paint. It was then revealed that the whole thing was improvised — there was no time to rehearse. Simply informed by the music that played in the background, Shalom was able to spontaneously craft a piece of performance art so profound that McQueen later said it was the only show that brought him to tears.

You’ve probably seen this viral clip from Todd Oldham’s Spring 1995 show. Archival footage shows Amber posing at the end of the catwalk, when Shalom, who later told Vogue she was simply feeling the music and hype of the crowd, overtakes her. The two turn back to walk side by side, and at Shalom’s witty instruction, turn to face the crowd in unison. Many are quick to take the incident with malice, but at the end of the show, Amber and Shalom come dancing out onto the runway, holding each other’s hands in an undeniable show of friendship.

Both Amber and Shalom were part of this historic Gucci Autumn 1995 runway show. By no means was this Tom Ford’s first collection for Gucci, but it was the show that earned the designer his fame and the brand, its fortune. Amber and Shalom were sent down the runway in forever chic jewel-toned satin shirts, coats in a matching shade, and form-fitting velvet pants that set the glamorous tone for the rest of Ford’s tenure at Gucci

For Mugler’s Spring/Summer 2022 collection, designer Casey Cadwallader once again delivered his signature creations through an electrifying fashion film. Amongst a star-studded cast of Megan Thee Stallion, Dominque Jackson, Bella Hadid and more, supermodels Amber and Shalom stole the show with a kiss. Clad in Mugler’s sculptural pieces imbued with fierce sensuality, Amber and Shalom strut along a Lincoln limousine, posing up a storm and smizing straight into the camera with those piercing eyes we’ve come to know.
