In the midst of a global pandemic, good news can feel hard to come by, but here’s some: Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik have welcomed their first child together, a baby girl. Hadid, who officially announced her pregnancy in May during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, reportedly gave birth in New York.

Announcing the birth on Instagram, the couple shared black and white pictures of the baby girl’s tiny hand. Hadid wrote alongside the image: “Our girl joined us earth-side this weekend and she’s already changed our world. So in love.” Meanwhile Malik’s caption read: “Our baby girl is here, healthy and beautiful. To try put into words how I am feeling right now would be an impossible task. The love I feel for this tiny human is beyond my understanding. Grateful to know her, proud to call her mine, and thankful for the life we will have together.”

The couple have been dating on and off since November 2015 and have recently been self-isolating at the Hadid family farm in Pennsylvania. They made their first red-carpet appearance as a couple on the stairs of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute for the Manus X Machina: Fashion in the Age of Technology-themed Met Gala in 2016 – Gigi wore a custom grey floor-length Tommy Hilfiger gown with a sequined bodice, while Zayn sported a black Versace suit complete with metallic armoured arms.

Hadid joins a clutch of celebrities who have given birth this year, including Sophie Turner, Chloë Sevigny, Grimes and Ciara. In August, Hadid commented on her Instagram feed that she had been “cherishing this time,” marking her due date with a pregnancy photoshoot captured by the creative duo Luigi and Iango.
