今年4月，Cartier London Crash腕錶在香港舉行的Sotheby’s拍賣會創下1,561萬的成交紀錄。事隔不足半年，Cartier的腕錶拍賣紀錄在Sotheby’s香港秋季拍賣會再一次被刷新，主角是一枚搭載石英機芯的白金Cartier Cheich腕錶，其成交價高達2,652萬，成為現今拍賣史上最昂貴的Cartier腕錶。
Cartier Cheich腕錶的設計靈源自男性頭巾
Cartier被譽為鐘錶界的「造型大師」（Master of Shape），一直擅長製作前衛造型的腕錶作品，像是Tank、Santos、Baignoire和Crash系列也是品牌的經典之作。至於造型更為獨特的Cartier Cheich腕錶，其設計靈感則來自撒哈拉沙漠的半遊牧民族圖阿雷格人（Tuareg）。
圖阿雷格人的成年男性因為經常佩戴染上藍色的頭巾（法語中稱為Cheich），被稱為「沙漠中的藍人」，而品牌便從此獨特的頭巾造型獲得靈感，製作出Cartier Cheich腕錶。
為何Cartier Cheich腕錶如此稀有？

The watch, which is in pristine condition, will be exhibited again in Paris before its auction on 30th September. 有關Cartier Cheich腕錶的誕生故事，還可以追溯到1980年代被譽為全球最艱鉅的汽車耐力賽──巴黎達卡拉力賽（Paris Daker Rally）。此場長達20天的征途，由法國首都巴黎出發，需橫越1,500公里的泰內雷沙漠，並於塞內加爾達喀爾衝線，展現了車手們的勇氣與無所畏懼的精神。而此種冒險精神深深感染了Cartier，品牌繼而在1983年宣布與賽事展開合作關係，為連續兩年贏得冠軍的車手送上一枚特製腕錶，而這枚腕錶就是Cartier Cheich腕錶。

據知Cartier在80年代製作了4枚Cartier Cheich腕錶，其中一枚曾由傳奇車手Gaston Rahier所擁有，他在1984年和1985年的Paris Dakar Cartier Challenge賽事奪得冠軍，成為唯一一位獲得Cartier Challenge Trophy的得主，此枚腕錶後來在2022年的拍賣會中以逾100萬歐元的價格成交；作為賽事創辦人的Thierry Sabine曾獲贈一枚，至今下落不明；至於另外兩枚因為賽事創辦人逝世和Cartier Challenge停辦，現正收藏於Cartier的典藏腕錶庫中。
為何搭載石英機芯的Cartier Cheich腕錶，能刷新最昂貴Cartier腕錶拍賣紀錄？
在Sotheby’s香港秋季拍賣會創下最新拍賣紀錄的Cartier Cheich腕錶，是Cartier於2010年特別為腕錶收藏家Giorgio Seragnoli所訂製。此枚Cartier Cheich腕錶，採用白金材質打造，故外表上與80年代以黃金材質製作的版本明顯不同。值得留意的是，錶蓋刻上了「No.1」的字樣，說明了它的獨一無二。
雖然此枚白金版的Cartier Cheich腕錶只搭載石英機芯，亦不具備任何複雜功能，但只此一枚的身份象徵、歷史意義與獨特錶殼設計已足以讓它成為傳奇，刷新最昂貴Cartier腕錶的拍賣紀錄。
