不僅如此，他還是一代荷李活女星、金像獎影后Faye Dunaway的前夫，他1977年為Faye Dunaway拍攝拿奧斯卡後第二天的照片成為了永恆的經典，甚至可以說定格了Faye Dunaway的地位和氣質。
當時兩人還未一起，O’Neill 只是說服Dunaway，如果她贏了的話，就在 Beverly Hills Hotel的泳池邊見他。O’Neill 表示他一直都想捕捉拿了金像獎後的情緒，而不是報紙上大篇幅鎂光燈下的紅毯照。
按Terry O’Neill自己的話說，他出生在戰爭年代，14歲便輟學而想成為一名爵士鼓手，沒想到卻在倫敦希特洛機場做起了攝影的工作。此後他成為了新聞攝影師，第一個接到的名人攝影任務之一便是The Beatles。當時The Beatles才剛剛冒起，Terry O’Neill自己的名氣甚至大過他們。

剛好在上個月，Terry O’Neill因其在攝影上所做出的成就與貢獻獲得英國白金漢宮頒發的大英帝國司令勳章（CBE），他自己形容到「這超過了我一生中經歷的任何事情。」本月仙逝，長達六十多年的攝影生涯將被歷史銘記。
