Never thought I would put the word “circular” and @Gucci together, but with the launch of @gucciequilibrium and an ongoing commitment to long term sustainable practise, change is afoot, not just in pledges, words and donations… – But now in product too, with the launch of #GucciOffTheGrid – an entire line of genderless luggage, accessories and footwear made out of Econyl (regenerated nylon made from pre/post consumer waste) as well as details such as recycled polyester threads, brass, gold hardware and solvent free adhesives – More importantly the step towards incorporating circularity has begun in luxury with the recovery of the Econyl and leather scraps in the collection as part of their pre consumer fabric take-back programme – On a practical/aesthetic note, love how the line feels pragmatic and deliberately spare, even down to the utilitarian cardboard packaging – a bit of an antithesis to what @alessandro_michele ‘s Gucci has become known for but in his words… “I imagined that we could build a treehouse in a city centre, all together, like kids playing in the park. Because all of us need to build this house or to find out that our planet exists, even where it seems it’s not there, or it’s far away.” – Tentatively hatching plans to go somewhere off the grid soon… ??☘️?? #SuppliedBy
