移居美國加州的 Meghan Markle，一舉一動都受到傳媒關注，無論是在 Oprah Winfrey 的電視專訪砲轟皇室種族歧視，還是沒有出席菲立普親王的葬禮，往往成為大眾討論的熱話。她最近宣布與美國插畫家 Christian Robinson 合作，於 6月 8日出版一本名《長凳》（The Bench）的兒童繪本，據說梅根還有機會親自獻聲演繹繪本内容，消息一出已經得到關注。

Meghan Markle 在聲明表示： 「兒子阿奇誕生一個月後到了父親節，我當時為哈里寫的一首詩，變成這本繪本的故事。」她同時表示，梅根希望這本書從母親角度出發，同探索父子之間的關係，藉此為所有家庭帶來共鳴。
The Bench started as a poem I wrote for my husband on Father's Day, the month after Archie was born. That poem became this story.

然而，出版商同時於官方微網站摘錄梅根為哈里創作的詩： 「這是你的長凳 ／你在此見證大量歡樂 ／你在此休息 ／看著我們兒子的成長 」

事實上，這不是首位英國王室成員出版兒童書籍，像王儲查理斯（Prince Charles）的《洛赫納加山老人》（The Old Man of Lochnagar），正是講述他與兩位弟弟的故事，她亦多次在 BBC 以語音朗讀故事，還有芭蕾舞劇的改編版本。
梅根並非首個出版兒童書籍的英國王室成員，像英女王次子安德魯王子（Prince Andrew）前妻 Sarah Ferguson 亦多次推出相關題材作品；又如王儲查理斯（Prince Charles），曾根據他與兩個弟弟講述的故事，寫成一本名為《洛赫納加山老人》（The Old Man of Lochnagar）。查理斯曾經親自上英國廣播公司（BBC）節目朗讀這個故事，故事其後更被改編成芭蕾舞劇。不過英國王室對於梅根是次最新舉動毫不知情，不知道會否再次掀起一場風波？但肯定的是，這本兒童書籍會描寫不少篇幅的王室故事，讓人相當期待。
