You have just launched Della Vite with your sisters Chloe and Cara. As your first joint business together how was the idea behind a Prosecco brand born?

For as long as I can remember it has always been a dream of ours, as sisters, to have a business together and something that we were all passionate about. Prosecco has always played a big part in our lives – for anything to celebrate, however big or small. Prosecco was always our go-to, a ritual almost. It just felt like the right thing for us as sisters; authentic and real.

You have always loved interiors, evident through your homes in LA and London. Tell us about your collaboration with tablescape queen Mrs. Alice and what the inspiration behind it was?

Alice and I have been friends for 30 years so collaborating with her brand Mrs. Alice was a dream come true. For me, as you know, I am bonkers about interiors, and the inspiration behind this particular tablescape was our shared love of Chinoiserie, with stolen elements from The Beverly Hills Hotel. It is a magical place for us which holds very special memories. Everything about it is powder pink, with palm trees in abundance, and I think that you can really feel all of those things within the collection. We wanted it to be fun, so we added moons and stars to all the glassware and we were truly inspired by our lifelong friendship. I am beyond proud of Alice who is not only a great mother but an amazing business woman.

Dress up or dress down? What’s your daily uniform?

Prior to lockdown, I was all about dressing up but now it’s near impossible to get me into anything but my go-to ripped jeans, a white t-shirt and cosy cashmere socks. I’m not going to lie, a part of me has become more withdrawn from my previous existence and the idea of Netflix every night on my sofa is the dream. I would have to say my daily uniform consists of t-shirts from ÉTERNE, jeans from Frame or Gallery Dept., cashmere socks by The Elder Statesmen, tie-dye jumpers by Zoë Jordan and my favourite trainers by Feiyue, with whom I have recently collaborated – they are literally like my second skin.

What has been the highlight of your modelling career?

This has to be working with the legendary Karl Lagerfeld. He was such an incredible man, with the naughtiest sense of humour, and an icon. We worked together on a few things but the moment that really stuck with me was shooting with him for Chanel’s coffee table book THE LITTLE BLACK JACKET, styled by Carine Roitfeld. I was in my underwear and he just told me to dance around and do ballet – such a surreal moment but one I will treasure forever.

If you could live anywhere else but your home town London, which dream destination would you choose and why?

If I had to live in another city it would be Rome. I feel like I must have been Italian in a past life – hence my love of Prosecco. I could never get bored there, what with its beauty and romanticism, and I could eat pasta for breakfast lunch and dinner and no one would bat an eyelid.

How have you adapted to this downtime and have you adopted any self-care rituals that have become part of your daily routine?

When lockdown was first initiated, it was definitely a shock to the system. A lot of my job relies on me travelling and interacting with people and suddenly being told to stay in one place was quite difficult, but like everyone else I adapted to a new way of life in the best way that I could. I got very into working out online to help structure my daily routine. I have a fantastic yoga teacher, Emily, and can now do a headstand – no mean feat for a giraffe like me! I threw myself into books, reading BREATH by James Nester, Untamed by Glennon Doyle and Women Who Run with the Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estes. I also did a juice cleanse for mental clarity from Presscription Juice, and took the time for self care through skincare as, before that, I had been rather lazy – I love Emma Hardie cleansing balm, Augustinus Bader face oil, Sisley eye cream, Royal Fern anti-aging serum and SkinCeuticals Phloretin CF. Lastly, and most importantly, I’m an ambassador for Save The Children, and I helped them with their latest initiative SAVE WITH STORIES, which helped to raise funds for children and families that had been hardest hit by the coronavirus crisis. It certainly kept me busy over those days in isolation.

What’s your favourite story from when you’ve been on set filming for any of your roles either in film or television?

I don’t necessarily have a favourite story but have certainly experienced some mad moments that I’ll never forget. A few years ago, I played Marie Therese Walter in National Geographic’s Genius Picasso opposite Antonio Banderas; playing someone that actually existed was such a challenge and brought about an enormous responsibility, but one that I was excited about taking on. When I was at the premier in Barcelona I actually met Marie Therese Walters’ son and her family and that was just an incredible moment and something I will cherish forever. I hope they think I did her justice!

If you could be a superhero for a day what would your superpower be?

Oh wow, so many powers to choose from! But I think it would have to be flying, to be up amongst the clouds like that – I’d sleep on a shooting star. And pop over to the Maldives for the weekend.

Describe a day in the life of Poppy Delevingne.

Well to be honest, no day is exactly the same for me due to the nature of my job. But I am an early riser generally, I do yoga most days, I go to work whether that be a fashion shoot, filming or meetings with Della Vite. At the moment I do most of my auditions via Zoom. Riviera season 3 is has just launched on SKYTV so a lot of what I am doing at the moment is focusing on that, with press. I also learnt how to cook during lock down (albeit not very well but I do my best) as there was so much time, so there is nothing I love more than preparing a roast chicken and settling into my new current TV obsession, Succession (I know I’m late to the party with this!) I also speak to my friends and family on a daily basis or as much as I can; I’m not sure what we ever did without FaceTime!

What’s the life motto you live by?

In the words of Cinderella, “HAVE COURAGE AND BE KIND,” especially in the age we are living in now. Kindness and empathy are vital. The smallest gesture can change someone’s day, whether it be smiling at a stranger on the bus or simply a selfless deed. Everyone has gone through so much this year. To be brave is such an incredible attribute also, and we need to have courage to find true happiness and believe in ourselves.
