Katie Hung and Nelson Tam, who met eight years ago on Coffee Meets Bagel, celebrated their union at Villa la Selva, a stunning 15th-century estate surrounded by cypress-lined roads and rolling hills. Their wedding was a two-day masterpiece—a breathtaking fusion of Baroque opulence, personal symbolism, and modern romance—proving that the simplest beginnings can lead to a fairytale ending.

After a week of spirited correspondence, the two met for the first time in person at Frantzén’s Kitchen. “I was struck by her energy,” Nelson shares. “The vibrant spirit from our messages translated instantly into reality.” For Katie, the attraction lay in Nelson’s quiet command of the details. “He had intuitively pre-selected the wine and courses based on my preferences,” she reflects. “That level of tailored precision was the ultimate confirmation of our compatibility. It was the perfect opening chapter.”

This chemistry blossomed into a relationship that would span continents, with their very first trip together to Tuscany becoming the foundation of their long-distance love. “The trip went deeper than the landscape; it served as a vital calibration of our spirits,” Katie reflects. “Beyond the Aperol Spritz, it was the precise moment we established our ‘相處之道’—our shared rhythm,” explained Katie. Amidst the Italian hills, they honoured the place where their virtual introduction blossomed into a life together.

Villa la Selva’s historical architecture provided a timeless canvas for their Baroque-inspired theme, which was more than a decorative choice. This theme formed an intentional bridge between the timeless countryside and the grandeur of Milan’s Duomo, which had inspired the couple during their first trip. To bring this complex imagination to life, Katie wielded Gemini and Nano Banana as her digital atelier. These AI tools expanded her creative horizons, visualising a Chiaroscuro-inspired palette of sapphire and emerald, where burgundy served as a sophisticated homage to the auspicious xiqing (喜慶) colours of traditional Chinese celebrations.

Katie approached her wardrobe with a curator’s eye, selecting pieces that formed a dialogue with the landscape. For the Welcome Dinner, she wore a shimmering gold Muse Marry gown that captured the “Golden Harvest” theme and the warm hues of Tuscany’s autumn, symbolising abundance and love. The ceremony gown, a regal Dylan Parienty ball gown, featured voluminous tulle and delicate crystal embellishments, mirroring the dramatic cypress trees and ornate Baroque detailing.

At the dinner reception, Katie embraced romance with a Zuhair Murad gown adorned with intricate, labyrinthine lace and shimmering embellishments, paired with René Caovilla heels that mirrored the glow of Baroque chandeliers. As the evening progressed, Katie slipped into a sleek Muse Marry mermaid silhouette in moonlight silver, its shimmering sequins softened by a bold, sculptural bow. The finale was a burst of pure joy: a Nicole + Felicia mini-dress with cascading fringe—a “wearable explosion of energy” that captured the magic of dancing under the Tuscan stars.

Nelson’s looks were equally intentional, with tailored suits by Roger Concept Tailor and accessories that reflected timeless sophistication, including watches by Blancpain and Audemars Piguet.

Jewellery served as the luminous heart of this narrative, comprising a breathtaking trove exceeding 100 carats. The pièce de résistance was an 18.57-carat vivid blue sapphire pendant suspended from a 27.20-carat diamond necklace. This was complemented by a 10.08-carat sapphire ring and 8.75-carat sapphire earrings, creating a dazzling “blue fire” that echoed the opulence of European royalty during the Baroque era and the venue’s historic grandeur.

Katie’s emerald ring, a 5.03-carat heirloom paired with her mother’s 9.08-carat emerald ring, added a deeply personal touch. “The emerald, known as the ‘stone of successful love,’ acted as a profound, silent affirmation of eternal commitment—to my mother,” Katie shared.

For both Katie and Nelson, the most emotional moment was Katie’s walk down the aisle. Nelson described it as “the simultaneous rush of intense excitement and profound certainty.” He added, “Standing there, every single shared milestone over the last eight years—from the dinner at Frantzén’s to the defining Tuscany trip—flashed by. It was a private cinematic montage confirming the significance of the journey we took to get there.”

For Katie, the moment was made even more poignant by her father’s quiet guidance down the staircase: “Because my dress was so voluminous, he gently whispered, ‘one, two, one, two,’ to guide our pace and keep us from tripping. That simple count instantly brought me back to being a little girl, reminded of him teaching me how to take my first steps.”

The celebration was not just a wedding but a spectacle of performance art. Guests were treated to a Baroque cabaret featuring feather-fan dancers, while avant-garde performers known as “The Madame Lumière” brought wearable art to life with their exquisite beaded gowns. It was the ultimate manifestation of the couple’s vision: a seamless blend of tradition and modernity, where AI innovation brought their dream to life, creating an experience that was both unforgettable and undeniably extravagant.
