It’s officially spring (my favourite season), and a time when sunglasses increasingly become everyday wear, but there are a few things to consider before investing in your next pair.  Whether you are into the drama of an oversized shape or the nostalgia of an all-time classic, pick a frame shape that compliments your face, accentuating your best features.

Heart

Heart-shaped (or triangular) faces, are widest at the temples and narrowest at the chin. The best sunglasses for heart-shaped faces are frames that help broaden your delicate jawline and direct attention downward to elongate features.  Aviators are an ideal option as the sloping silhouette perfectly contrasts and flatters your v-shaped chin.

Round

The round face shape has noticeable curves and less defined angles.  Rectangular sunglasses balance your round features and elongate your face, making it look slimmer and sharper, and attracting the attention upward.  A squared frame with a brow bar gives the wearer a delicate and defined shape.

Oval

Oval faces have gently rounded, fairly even features and have the most flexibility for choosing eyewear. Pretty much any frame is going to work well, but sunglasses with a brow bar create definition and contrast for an oval shape.

Square

Square-shaped faces generally have an even length and width.  Soften your features with with curved frames (such as oval), with an oversized pair also drawing attention upward.

Oblong

Oblong (or rectangular) faces are characterised by a longer length.  This face shape works particularly well with oversized sunglasses or large wayfarers. Choose a pair with a strong horizontal line, and you’ll balance out the vertical.
