Jeremy Scott wasn’t about to let the pandemic compromise on the magic expected of his shows. For SS20, he called upon American puppeteer store Jim Henson’s Creature Shop (most famously known for creating The Muppets), to collaborate on a fashion show in an ambitious undertaking. Each look was originally made in life-size, but was then meticulously recreated to fit the proportions of 30-inch marionette dolls whilst still retaining the life-like qualities of the materials used. Miniature-sized guests, including the likes of Anna Wintour and Edward Enninful, were also in attendance.

The collection featured an array of embellished evening wear, with jacquard embroidery and feather detailing incorporated across a multitude of looks. Scott also highlighted what would normally be left unseen, displaying visible seams and stitching amongst edges, panels and trims on the exterior of long evening gowns and flirtier, midi dresses. Waists were tightly cinched, flaring out in peplum styles enhanced by the addition of tulle or statement jacquard. The craftsmanship and detail of each garment was not lost on the scaled-down models, “It’s filled with love, it’s so delicate and intricate,” Scott said of the craft and artistry that went into the collections. “It’s close to looking classical but not exactly. I wanted to play with all the subtleties but make them bold at the same time.”
