Gucci is set to expand its universe further with the launch of Gucci make-up. Under the creative direction of Alessandro Michele, the Italian fashion house will unveil a re-launched line of cosmetics, complementing and reflecting the aesthetic already exhibited in its fashion and perfume spheres, starting with a range of lipsticks. The New Lipsticks Collection launches on May 4 on Gucci.com and in selected boutiques in New York.

Having taken the helm at Gucci four years ago, Michele has been vital in reviving the house to both commercial and critical acclaim, with make-up being the latest extension of the brand to receive his Midas touch. In June, Gucci CEO Marco Bizzari announced a revenue target of €10 billion, having logged €2.3 billion in sales in the first quarter of this year, up 25 per cent year-on-year.

So, what to expect? If Michele’s catwalk collections and campaigns are anything to go by, the Gucci make-up look will champion self-expression and again place experimentation at the forefront of the brand’s agenda.

Following the launch of Gucci’s new fragrance family – The Alchemist’s Garden – which comes in apothecary-style bottles, such Instagram-worthy packaging will undoubtedly be shared in the design for the new lipstick bullets.

With more information to follow shortly, the announcement from Gucci hints at the house going full-steam ahead for the €10 billion turnover it anticipates.
