Timed to New York’s Frieze Art Week, Miu Miu unveiled the second edition of Tales & Tellers – an immersive installation and live performance that unfolded at the Terminal Warehouse in Manhattan’s Chelsea district from May 9 to 11, 2025. Following its Paris debut during Art Basel week in October 2024, the project returned in a new iteration that expanded on the house’s ongoing exploration of narrative, femininity, and the intersection of fashion, cinema, and art.

Conceived by Polish-born interdisciplinary artist Goshka Macuga and convened by Elvira Dyangani Ose (director of MACBA, Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona), Tales & Tellers is a site-specific installation performance under the creative direction of Miuccia Prada. The project draws inspiration from and features film commissions of the acclaimed Miu Miu Women’s Tales film series highlighting female creatives, as well as scenographic interventions from the brand’s runway shows spanning Spring/Summer 2022 to Spring/Summer 2025.

The industrial interior of the Terminal Warehouse was transformed into a dark, tunnel-like landscape punctuated by theatrical vignettes. Within these spotlit tableaux, performers dressed in Miu Miu embodied archetypal roles – The Artist, The Remedy, The Singer – each referencing the house’s fashion and cinematic archive. Guests were encouraged to explore freely while performers zoomed by on skateboards, singers shimmered in silver paillettes, and voices echoed through the cavernous space shouting “Disrupt reality!” while waving The Truthless Times newspaper, which was passed out to guests at the SS25 Miu Miu runway show. The performance culminated in a group dance as VIP guests looked on sipping champagne and holding Miu Miu-branded tote bags.

With Tales & Tellers, Miu Miu continues to evolve its cultural footprint beyond the runway. Part archive, part live presentation, it invited viewers to reconsider fashion as a living artifact and reckon with the idea of the ever-evolving female voice, focusing on “not only the importance of narratives but of the figures who communicate them.”
