The Annex in Central was abuzz with beauty lovers, socialites and supermodels to celebrate the launch of Elizabeth Arden’s latest anti-aging skincare line, PREVAGE. A thematic exhibition promoting an anti-aging lifestyle was created especially for the occasion and included a breakfast bar, technology studio, colourful yoga space and beautifully decorated bedroom.

Renowned Hong Kong actress and model Chrissie Chau was there to officiate the ceremony along with Elizabeth Arden’s Vice President of Global Education & Development Janet Curmi, who gracefully shared her anti-aging and skincare tips. Having been with Elizabeth Arden for over 30 years, Curmi has a wealth of experience in the skincare sector and is now in charge of all aspects of education and development for the Elizabeth Arden portfolio which includes various skincare brands, fragrance lines and makeup franchises. Other guests at the exhibition included Qiqi Yam, Chelsea Chau, Ankie Beilke and Rosemary Vandenbroucke.

What are your biggest tips for anti-aging?
Wearing sunscreen every day – that means 365 days a year regardless of weather, sun exposure, or season. It’s your best friend in preventing aging, whether you’re out shopping for the day, headed to the office, or outside gardening. And don’t forget those vulnerable areas that we miss most often
like the back of the neck, especially if your hair is short or you wear it up. You can also massage any of the left over cream onto your hands, which are more prone to sun damage. My favourite is Prevage City Smart SPF 50.

What is one product you can’t live without?
That’s a tough one to answer because I have a list of products that I truly feel I couldn’t live without. When you’ve been in the business as long as I have, you tend to have a rather “involved” skincare routine. On my short list is SUPERSTART, Prevage Daily Serum, Advanced Ceramide Capsules, and Retinol Ceramide Capsules and always Prevage City Smart SPF 50. It’s impossible to choose just one – sorry!

Describe your daily beauty routine.
I address my beauty routine like I do my daily food diet. Just like your body needs certain food groups and nutrients from your diet, skin is the same. Daily, I consume probiotics, antioxidants, fats and vitamins. I look for these within my “skincare diet” as well. SUPERSTART Skin Renewal Booster provides both prebiotics and probiotics to balance the outer most layer of my skin. It’s my first step morning and night. Then I need antioxidants, so I follow with Prevage Daily Serum for protection from the environment with our most powerful antioxidant Idebenone. The fats in my skincare routine come from Advanced Ceramide Capsules (I use a capsule following my Prevage Daily Serum). Ceramides are a fat we begin losing in our skin in our 30s, and the Advanced Ceramide Capsules fortify my skin with youth-restoring ingredients. At night, I always apply vitamin A in the form of Retinol Ceramide Capsules on top of my SUPERSTART and follow with a rich night cream. Don’t forget that no skincare regimen is worth the money if you don’t use an SPF. You must protect this investment with a good SPF +++ product during the day. It may seem like a lot, but as I continue to age I really feel that the hard work has paid off. I’ve learned these good habits watching my mother’s diligence in her skincare routine.

What advice do you have for young girls looking to take care of their skin?
It’s never too early to form good skincare habits. For example, never go to sleep without thoroughly cleansing your face, even if you don’t wear makeup. Also, make sure to apply your favourite serum and night cream before hitting the sheets. Retinol Ceramide Capsules are good for your skin at any age. One of my biggest skincare regrets is not using retinol in my 20s – it truly works wonders! And I can’t say it enough: sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen!

How was your stay in Hong Kong?
Hong Kong is such a gorgeous city. It has one of the most beautiful skylines that I’ve seen – and that’s coming from a 35-year New York resident! I was genuinely excited to see “The Symphony of Lights” from the rooftop restaurant where I was having dinner. And I just love the people. Women here obviously take pride in their skin care routines. I feel so fortunate to have been able to experience your beautiful city, and I cannot wait to return!
