In the ever-shifting landscape of the music industry, Troye Sivan stands as a beacon of artistic evolution. From his initial foray into the scene as a YouTube sensation to becoming a globally recognised music icon, Sivan’s journey has been a symphony of self-discovery and creative exploration. As he prepares to unveil his upcoming album, “Something to Give Each Other,” Sivan delves into a new chapter of his career, redefining his sound and expanding his horizons beyond music.

The upcoming album is a product of diverse influences – community, hope, dance music, and human connection. Sivan speaks passionately about how this album has allowed him to “fall in love with life all over again” and embrace humanity anew. “I was listening to a lot of pop music, nostalgic pop music like Janet Jackson and was really inspired by the idea of how global pop music can be and how it can bring people together”, he shares.

Sivan’s musical evolution shines through as he explores a new direction in sound. Describing his latest work as the “warmest” music he’s ever produced, he emphasises the unprecedented sense of hope and levity that permeates the tracks. “I’ve never made music that feels so hopeful”, he shares.  Amidst occasional slower moments, the album maintains an overall sense of optimism, signifying a marked shift in his creative expression.

Sivan has distilled his album’s essence into a single sentence, “a sonic journey of rediscovery and rebirth”, emphasising the importance of connection – both with oneself and others. Through its tracks, Sivan intends to convey a message of renewal, underlining the transformative power of human relationships and shared experiences.

Sivan’s creativity transcends the boundaries of music, with his recent endeavours venturing into new artistic territories. Beyond the studio, he is preparing to launch TSU LANGE YOR, a luxury lifestyle and homeware brand he co-founded with his brother. Through this venture, Sivan embraces his passion for interior design.  “I wrote my whole first album about the idea of home, “Blue Neighbourhood””, Troye shares. “For me to be able to share a piece of my home with everyone has been a really fulfilling process.”

Beyond singing, Sivan has dipped his toes into the world of acting, most recently starring in HBO Max’s buzzing new series “The Idol”. To Troye, creativity is a versatile muscle, one that can be flexed through music, his homeware venture, and acting. With his versatility on full display, Sivan seeks happiness in satisfying his creative urges across multiple mediums.

In a world filled with noise, Sivan employs simple yet effective strategies to stay grounded. He highlights the importance of setting boundaries, periodically disconnecting from technology, and relishing the little things. What does self care mean to him? “I spend time with my dog, I take baths, I read, and I watch very silly TV. Self-care to me means drawing firm boundaries with the people around you, to take the time to look after yourself.”
