Timothée Chalamet: Academy Award nominee, the Internet’s favourite yearner, and we can safely say, a modern-day style icon. Since he first hit the red carpet for his breakout film Call Me By Your Name in 2017, he has defied the rules of traditional male dressing. You will never catch the 30-year-old actor wearing a typical black suit at any event, which makes him an actor beloved not only for his brilliant performances, but his sartorial choices as well.
Chalamet never shies away from stepping out of fashion norms. He has rocked everything from a tailored silver-grey Haider Ackermann suit for the premiere of Netflix’s The King to an all-black leather jumpsuit by Alexander McQueen to the Vanity Fair Oscars after party in 2022. Because of his impressive fashion streak (and model looks), he was even asked to co-host the Met Gala in 2021.
Now that Chalamet knows the power his fashion has, he’s using that to his advantage. While promoting his new film Marty Supreme, he has been wearing windbreakers in all sorts of different colours with the film’s name on it, drawing huge crowds at pop-up stores and internet virality. To understand how Chalamet has become the best dressed movie star of our time, take a look at his best looks here.

One of the first times Chalamet stepped out of his fashion comfort zone was at the 2019 Golden Globes. The look was simple but featured a twist: designed by the late Virgil Abloh, he wore a sparkling bib over a silky black shirt and formal trousers. And Chalamet’s fashion has only become more daring ever since.

Chalamet is never one to follow rules, even when he’s attending the most prestigious awards show in Hollywood. In 2020, he attended the Oscars in a navy blue satin bomber jacket from Prada, breaking the longstanding dress code of a tuxedo and a tie. But, he was stylish regardless, so who’s really here to complain?
Timothée Chalamet in Haider Ackermann
If there is an opportunity for Chalamet to wear something by Haider Ackermann, chances are he’ll take it, and we’re certainly not complaining. The Tom Ford creative director has helped Chalamet create some of his most memorable looks, like the white double-breasted jacket he wore to the 2021 Met Gala, which he famously paired with white Converse sneakers. There’s also the bright red halterneck pantsuit he wore to the 2022 Venice Film Festival. The draping top came with a silky scarf wrapped around his neck and was completely backless. To say he’s a fashion pioneer would be an understatement.
