From serving pork buns at Momofuku Ko to starring alongside those she served, Greta Lee has had quite the 20-year journey. Her most recent endeavour is playing Nora in Celine Song’s feature film debut Past Lives which has already garnered tremendous buzz upon its premiere at the Sundance Festival. “A centre of gravity” is how Song describes Lee’s performance as Nora  — a vulnerable character that undeniably differs from the headstrong women Lee is most known for playing. Think Stella Bak, the acute journalist from The Morning Show who deliberately hones her image as a girl boss through a closet only of the likes of Balenciaga, Prada, and Chanel (courtesy of the show’s costume designer, Sophie De Rakoff).

While Nora is grounded, Lee’s sartorial choices are esoteric and daring in the best way. She is unafraid when it comes to trying whimsical silhouettes, strutting pom pom Loewe heels at Paris Fashion Week and stunning in a gravity-defying Loewe set at the 73rd Berlinale International Film Festival. Unapologetically bold, Lee brings Jonathan Anderson’s spell-binding imagination to life with ease no matter the occasion. Perhaps she was also a fashion icon in her past life.
