As the biggest night in film and entertainment, the 92nd Academy Awards capped off this year’s awards season with a culmination of red carpet style. Sartorial themes on the Oscars 2020 red carpet looked to statements on sustainability and feminism. Penélope Cruz and Margot Robbie both donned vintage Chanel haute couture dresses, reviving Spring/Summer 1995 and Spring/Summer 1994 designs, respectively, while Natalie Portman made a feminist statement in a Dior gown and cape embroidered with names of female directors into the fabric. There was a push for Golden Era elegance via Salma Hayek in Gucci, Kaitlyn Dever in Louis Vuitton, and Brie Larson in Celine, as well as modern style statements from Janelle Monae in Ralph Lauren, Billie Eilish in custom Chanel tweed, and Timothee Chalamet in a Prada tracksuit.
