Iris Law knows she has nothing left to prove, and perhaps that’s why a conversation with her feels so unguarded. She shares her apprehension without apology (doesn’t like being out late, doesn’t enjoy big dinners, and gets cold easily) and gushes over the things she loves without fear of judgment (right now, a pair of Zara brown penny loafers sits firmly at the top of that list).
It’s 10 AM in Hong Kong, and 6 PM in LA, where Law has just landed after working back-to-back in New York and London. Wearing a grey zip-up top, the 25-year-old British model holds her phone for this video chat, bringing into focus that signature, ever-so-slightly tousled, blonde pixie cut that has become synonymous with her image. Even while jet-lagged, her eyes seem to hold a permanent smile, glowing even brighter when a question brings back memories of her younger, wide-eyed self.
What still surprises her on every shoot is how much she has changed as a person.
She thinks back to the Miu Miu Resort 2017 campaign, shot when she was only 16. “I remember Katie Grand asking me for styling opinions, and feeling like that was the scariest thing ever, like there was a right or wrong answer.” Eleven years into a professional modelling career, she now recognises it as just one of those normal on-set questions. More importantly, she has the confidence to answer it.
At her Vogue Hong Kong shoot with Zoey Grossman, Law remembers Kodak Black thumping through the speakers, singing a lot, and devouring sweets like Hubba Bubba Bubble Gum Tape—it’s for the photoshoot, after all. At a fitting days later, she found herself telling someone how “safe” and “collaborative” the photoshoot had felt. The word choice is telling: it reflects not only professional growth—the ability to read a room, adapt to a brand’s language, and quietly elevate the work for everyone involved—but also a deeper personal evolution.
SOWING SEEDS
Coming into her own, easing into herself, Law has become very particular with everything that surrounds her. “There’s so much beauty and power in how many decisions you can make on a daily basis. And I try to remember that everything is a decision and everything can be specified,” she says. Her home in LA, for example, is her dream dollhouse come to life. Facebook Marketplace is where she found her two vintage beds—one a Japanese hand-painted floral design in black lacquer, and the other one is padded pink and carved wood.
Nowhere is her thoughtful approach more visible than in how she dresses. “My main way of making a difference—what I really champion in daily life—is that I almost always only buy vintage and thrift,” she explains. She loves the slow treasure hunt of flea markets and is quick to clarify that her finds are rarely limited to high-end labels. She maintains a strict rotation, never letting pieces accumulate, and regularly donates whatever she has outgrown.
“Realistically, I love fashion and everyone in this world wants to be able to be part of that and express themselves through their clothes,” Law explains, “You want to be able to find your way of not being wasteful but still being able to enjoy.”
That same passion for fashion and the environment once led her to pursue a bachelor’s in textiles at Central Saint Martins. Looking back, she smiles at how her interests have shifted and deepened. There’s still such a thrill in chasing the threads of her curiosity and feeling her mind expand. With a genuine love for tea and Japanese culture, she’s learning the language as one way to keep her brain active—one of her self-prescribed areas of growth. Seeing what she can achieve outside of modelling has made her proud in a completely different way. “It just reminded me that that’s something I want to keep alive always,” she says.

Reflecting on her own path, she shares a mantra that’s carried her through her 20s: “I’ve always felt like your 20s are a time when you’re kind of dropping a lot of seeds. And you shouldn’t feel guilty if some of those seeds don’t rise because eventually the right ones will.”
“I might go back to that part of myself or a completely different part of myself,” she adds. “But I just like going down different pathways.”
