Netflix’s hit reality dating show Better Late Than Single is back for season 2 after we all fell in love with the 모태솔로 (eternal singles) and their quest for their first relationship. For those who are unfamiliar with the concept, 12 singles are brought to “Solo Village” on South Korea’s Jeju Island after undergoing makeovers. Each participant is paired with one of the four mentors on the show, focusing on the specific areas contributing to their dating struggles—ranging from a closet refresh to speech training.
With over 17,000 applicants for season 2 of the show, the producers had no shortage of singles to choose from. Here are the 12 participants that set off to Solo Village for their chance at finding a partner.
Yoon Jung-yun
Yoon Jung-yun is 26, an ISFP, and a homebody who says he’d never been on a blind or group date before joining the show. His hobbies include video games (like League of Legends) and playing piano. However, he struggles is making eye contact with strangers and often experiences hyperhidrosis—leading to sweaty palms. His makeover focused on helping him push through nerves, including mock blind dates designed to build confidence.
Lee Han-ju
Lee Han-ju is 27, an ISTP, and a doctor whose hobbies include attending concerts and baseball games. After a year of failed blind and group dates, she decided to apply for season 2 of Better Late Than Single. When talking about her previous experiences with going on dates, she states that her biggest flaw is that she can be too blunt. Her type is pretty boys who look like K-pop idols, with a hint of a bad-boy edge.
Ahn Seung-hyun
Ahn Seung-hyun is a 30-year-old ISFP who enjoys hiking. He applied after watching Season 1 with a friend, feeling pressure as his peers started getting married, which made him feel like he was “falling behind.” Because he tends to ramble and trip over his words when nervous, he worked with a communication coach to prepare for his entry into Solo Village.
Kim Jae-seo
Kim Jae-seo is a 32-year-old game developer and KAIST graduate with an ENTJ personality type. He played a founding role on the popular video game PUBG: Battlegrounds, and admits that long stretches of working in the office kept him away from dating for years. He’s joined Better Late Than Single ready to change his “work-first” routine.
Jeon Seo-yoon
Jeon Seo-yoon is 29, an INTJ, and a true K-pop fangirl. She’s a long-time follower of NCT DREAM and applied to the show because she wants to start thinking seriously about marriage as she moves closer to her 30s. Her goal is to find a boyfriend to bring to her faves’ next concert.
Choi Hyun-seo
Choi Hyun-seo is a 27-year-old INTJ with a self-described “otaku” lifestyle, centering on her love for anime and manga—specifically her favorite character, Toshiro Hijikata from Gintama. Having attended an all-girls school, she applied because she lacks real-life opportunities to meet men. She notes that her mellow energy is often misunderstood in dating, and reveals her “ideal 2D man” is someone with dark hair, cat-like eyes, and a serious personality.
Choi Hyuk-joon
Choi Hyuk-joon is 31 with an INTJ personality type. He enjoys hiking, watching movies, and visiting cafés, but he admits he can be overly cautious about dating. After experiencing heartbreak from an unrequited first love in college, he learned to protect himself with a “dismissive-avoidant mask,” something his dating coach worked to challenge during his makeover. His makeover also included voice training, aimed at helping him feel more proactive and comfortable expressing himself.
Lee Jin-woo
Lee Jin-woo is 26 and an ISTP. He isn’t technically an “eternal single,” since he met someone on an anonymous chat app during COVID and dated for about a year—though they never met in person. After a weight-loss journey, he now feels ready to step into real-life dating and enter the process with more confidence.
Han Su-ji
Han Su-ji is a 26-year-old INTP who collects merch and loves ballet. She works as a potter and studied illustration overseas, growing up between the U.K. and Korea. Because of this, she describes herself as independent from an early age. Although she admits she can seem unapproachable at first, she is determined to leave Solo Village with a boyfriend.
An Jeong-eun
An Jeong-eun is 30 with an INFP personality type and enjoys watching movies and documentaries. She’d been recruited by other dating shows, but chose Better Late Than Single after her family watched Season 1. Because she was picked on as a kid, she often expects to be judged again and worries about connecting with new people. Even so, she emphasizes that she doesn’t want to run away and plans to put her full effort into the experience.
Kim Tae-hoon
Kim Tae-hoon is 29 and an INTJ who enjoys cooking and playing soccer. He mentions that he dated someone in middle school, but friends don’t consider it as part of his dating history. He also shares that he previously developed a reputation for being outspoken and for arguing with girls in high school.
Kim Soo-hyun
Kim Soo-hyun is 28, an ESTJ, and her hobbies include watching K-dramas. Recently, her family has become especially persistent about dating and marriage—so much so that her mother even briefly hijacked her call with the producers. Despite that, she’s confident she’ll be able to meet someone through this experience.
