Lisa is one quarter of world-famous K-pop group, Blackpink. The group took the world by storm at their debut in 2016, and haven’t looked back since – just last year, Blackpink broke five Guinness World Records with the release of their single “How You Like That”. The music video quickly became the most-viewed YouTube video in the first 24 hours of its release, with 86.3 million views (it has now surpassed 900 million). Lisa is the group’s dancing and rapping sensation, known for her pristine bangs, spirited personality and effortless style. The star is of Thai descent, and grew up in Buriram Province, Thailand. Originally born as Pranpriya, she later changed her name to Lalisa, as per the advice of a fortune teller for added prosperity.

The K-pop star has long-since been the muse of Celine’s creative director, Hedi Slimane, and is now the brand’s first ever global ambassador. Lisa’s elegance and iconic style was also noticed by the likes of M.A.C. Cosmetics and BVLGARI – she now holds global ambassador titles for three of the most iconic brands in fashion, beauty and jewellery.

She did not speak any Korean before arriving at YG in 2011, but now speaks 4 languages

When Lisa was selected out of 4,000 other Thai girls to become a trainee in Korea, she did not speak a word of Korean. During the 5-year trainee process, she worked hard, and, according to her fellow Blackpink member, Jennie, “would always get A’s for everything.” Lisa now speaks fluent Korean, English, Thai, Japanese, and even some Chinese!

She is the most followed K-pop idol on Instagram

The star boasts an impressive 54.5 million followers on Instagram, making her the most followed out of her fellow Blackpink members, as well as being the most followed K-pop idol, period.

She is often referred to as Blackpink’s “Dancing Machine”


As Blackpink’s lead dancer, it’s no surprise that Lisa is often referred to as the group’s “Dancing Machine”. In fact, she has her own YouTube channel where she posts solo dance videos under the moniker LiLi Films.
