Riccardo Tisci’s Burberry Resort 2020 “Pre-Collection” was so vast in range that it was essentially several ready-to-wear seasons in one. Sprawled across two floors of the Burberry Horseferry Road HQ in London, Tisci’s expansive men’s and women’s range displayed the various faces of the heritage label, ranging from timeless classics to hyped-up trends.

The scope aimed to both sustain Burberry’s heritage and keep the label modern and relevant with the youth. So, there was the bourgeois ladies clad in beige, black, leopard and snake print, wearing classic trench coats, sharply tailored suiting, and an elegant black wool coat with faux fur short sleeves; there were the streetwear kids in graffiti-style scribble print, ‘90s era puffers, bucket hats, and retro video game logos; and there were the millennial It-girls in slinky slip dresses made of patchwork lace or metallic chain-link. And then there was Tisci’s version of modern power dressing, a series of elegant office wear and formal evening gowns presented in front of a handsome vintage car.
