The high ponytail hasn’t made an appearance since teen sitcoms in the 90s and briefly on the runway in the early 2000s. But, thanks to the likes of Bella Hadid and Ariana Grande, this autumn the high ponytail is making a comeback, and with an upgrade. At the Video Music Awards, Bella Hadid was seen with what we consider the High Ponytail 2.0 – all of her hair, including her long side bangs, tied up on the top of the head in a thick knot, with C-curls making the hairstyle look like a bob at first glance.

Kylie Jenner appeared with a similar hairstyle at Netflix’s Travis Scott documentary premiere, her instagram story referencing Bella Hadid for the hair inspo. But both appeared to follow in the footsteps of Kim Kardashian, who rocked the High Ponytail 2.0 with several Instagram tutorial videos on the look, as well as appearing with it while exercising, playing with her kids, and out at events.
