Life is not just an endless pursuit of materiality. On top of enjoying the more superficial things, living La Dolce Vita also means imagining the future, and living in harmony with your surroundings while taking care of your health. Weave Living, founded by entrepreneur Sachin Doshi in 2017, creates intricately designed and professionally managed living spaces. Freshly unveiled in Mid-Levels, the latest Weave Residences have further sublimated the idea of La Dolce Vita, broadening our vision for the future.

The birth of Weave Living is a response to the needs of Hong Kong’s housing market: a stylishly designed, well-quipped space that is carefully managed by a team of professionals. Two spatial concepts, Weave Studios and Weave Suites, have been created since the establishment of Weave Living in 2017. The former combines comfort, convenience and community for an innovative, worry-free urban life; while the latter provides modern and fully furnished serviced residences, tailored to urbanists who love the autonomy of living alone. The newest addition to Mid-Levels, Weave Residences, marks a step into traditional multi-household housing. Located in the heart of the city, it is also only a few steps away from Hong Kong’s lush nature. It is tastefully designed by renowned design team DEFT and embraces the concept of holistic wellness, providing its residents with a diversified wellness lifestyle program. We talk to the Founder and CEO of Weave Living, Sachin Doshi, who shares with us the concept behind his latest project and his hopes for the future.

What can you tell us about the latest Weave Residences in Mid-levels?

Last year, we decided to rebrand from Weave Co-Living to Weave Living as we noticed a huge opportunity in the traditional multi-family residential and serviced apartment space in Hong Kong and other gateway cities throughout Asia. Weave Residences will be our first-ever move-in-ready multi-family residential property that will broaden our product line by appealing to traditional apartment tenants looking for a beautifully designed, professionally managed, pet-friendly home.

Weave Residences comprises 48 self-contained and fully furnished homes with a panoramic view of Victoria Harbour and the cityscape. We partnered with DEFT, an acclaimed Hong Kong-based interdisciplinary design studio, to carefully plan and design high-quality aesthetics and amenities to offer a blissful escape away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Now Weave Living is providing a wider range of living options with the debut of Weave Residences at Mid-Levels. But when you launched Weave Living back in 2017, what drove you to arrive at such a decision?

I see a lot young people around the world dream to live in gateway cities like Hong Kong, Singapore and Sydney amongst others but the barriers to entry such as inability to buy an apartment and high rents prevent them from doing so. For that reason, I wanted to build a trusted company where people can choose our properties knowing that they are part of a thriving community, getting great value and a consistent experience wherever they go. The Weave Journey began to fill a gap in the market in 2017 with beautifully designed and professionally managed living options that allow for flexible rental contracts for expats and locally based young professionals in Hong Kong.

The concept of Weave Living is very unique. What inspired you to create such a concept, and how has it evolved since you began?

For Weave Living, I wanted to build a respected brand focused on providing hassle-free city living for today’s growing community of global citizens – offering flexible rental of well-designed homes in prime locations. I’ve lived in four different cities now, and every time I’ve relocated to another place, the hardest things are figuring where to live and meeting new people. So, I wanted to create a solution for these two aspects from my personal experience. Weave Living has moved beyond its early roots targeting millennials and first time home-leavers as we witnessed the enormous opportunities in the serviced apartment space as well as in traditional multi-family residential properties. To cater for different needs, we now effectively have three product lines under the Weave Living umbrella across co-living studios (Weave Studios), serviced apartments (Weave Suites) and self-contained, traditional multi-family residences (Weave Residences) that provide a high quality, diverse rental solution to a broader demographic of tenants.

What kind of lifestyle do you wish to bring to people via Weave Living?

Weave Living aims to offer a variety of accommodation options to cater to different lifestyles – singles, couples, or even furry friends to call home. From co-living studios, serviced apartments to self-contained residences, each Weave property will be a little different to adapt to the surrounding neighbourhood, embracing the cultural nuances of the local communities. However, residents will find a consistently high-quality aesthetic, design and amenities across all properties.

In what ways do Weave Living channel this lifestyle? (eg. in designs, management, amenities etc.)

Weave Living not only provides fully-furnished homes with all utility and Wi-Fi included, but also short and long-term stays for your convenience. Additionally, residents have access to different kinds of shared spaces depending on which of our 3 brands the property belongs to – for example, private gym, living room, fully equipped kitchen, laundry room, games area, rooftop terrace, and work spaces. These social spaces set in a comfortable, expansive and modern design encourage residents to mingle and participate in community events and workshops.

Apart from living, work is also a focus of Weave Living. How did you create a work-life balanced space via the project?

Weave Residences has been thoughtfully designed to create a comfortable and private living space with modern flair. Residents can recharge in their personal space, while having access to community activities, serene walking trails, trendy eateries, art galleries, and more. Holistic wellness is of utmost importance to us and we hope that our offerings can provide the best service and approach to achieve balance at work and in their personal life.

Community is also at the heart of Weave Living. What have you witnessed regarding community building, since the launch of several properties thus far?

Our goal for all our properties is to provide an environment that is welcoming, inclusive, and safe – a collaborative community allows residents to enjoy a fulfilling lifestyle, which is really important to us. We’ve noticed a very diverse community with different backgrounds, age groups, professions, nationalities, and interests, which makes for an exciting place where our residents can thrive.

Your future vision of Weave Living?

The global pandemic has brought unprecedented challenges for many industries in the last year, and it has also clearly slowed Hong Kong’s real estate market, however fundamentally the city presents a very exciting market for us. As a global gateway city, good quality, professionally managed rental accommodation is key to keep the city competitive. In some ways, we will always maintain a strong position in Hong Kong as our home market . Our team expect to add three to four more projects a year to the company’s portfolio as the market for multi-family rental residential properties continues to expand in Asia’s core cities. In the long run, Weave Living also has plans to expand to other regions like Singapore, Australia, and beyond.
