For almost 40 years, NUOVO has been guided by its core philosophy to seamlessly alternate between the old and new. It’s this philosophy that has informed Pak Man Lee’s understanding of design.
“We look for these qualities in the work we curate for our clients at NUOVO, and we make a conscious choice not to compromise on aesthetics or engineering,” he shares. “Instead, we seek pieces that blend form and craftsmanship seamlessly, creating products that are functional and liveable works of art.”
I believe that good design is grounded in tried and tested craftsmanship, while pushing the boundaries of modern day creativity.
Pak Man Lee, NUOVO CEO and Creative Director
For Hong Kong’s dynamic market, Pak says that NUOVO makes a conscious effort to leave their tastes unrestricted. “Our curation is purposefully eclectic: by selecting designs that range from Nordic to contemporary Italian to classical American styles, we try to bring new ideas of design into the minds of our clients and the heart of this city’s design scene. We also hope that this diverse selection allows clients to let their individual spirit guide the pieces they choose for their homes.”
This focus on eclecticism is also prominent in NUOVO’s recent and upcoming exhibitions. Over the past two years, they have dedicated showcases that range from a retrospective on chair design at the Shop House in Tai Hang, to the colourful and quirky works of Bethan Laura Wood for CC Tapis and Nilufar, and the craftsmanship of Atelier Pinton and Joyce Wang’s Rewild collection. Currently, they are exhibiting Beyond the Loom: Interwoven Futures in Engineered Craft with Elaine Yan Ling Ng – a boundary-pushing collaboration focused on the architectural nature of fabrics. Pak states, “We are conscious of how vastly different design is across the world, and what it means to different people. So we try to highlight this sense of difference at Nuovo, juxtaposing work in ways that have not yet been seen in Hong Kong’s interior design retail space. Through these showcases, we aim to match the city’s spirit, striving to create the same energy as internationally renowned design fairs such as Salone de Mobile in Milan or Maison et Objet in Paris.”
This year, NUOVO is working on even more collaborations with different artists and designers, details of which are updated through the company’s social media platforms. “We are also offering a combination of new services, extending beyond our existing showroom events into interior styling, realtor services, art consultancy, and interior design. Overall, our goal is to provide a seamless experience to our clients from start to finish,” Pak shares. “We’ll be offering realtor services, where through our extensive network, we will provide exciting listings for homes both in Hong Kong and abroad as well as staging services.” He continues, “For art consultancy, our in-house art expert will work closely with each client to understand their taste in art, whether for buying and selling or building a collection.”

Finally, for those interested in a more holistic service, NUOVO will offer a full service interior design program. “This program will enable clients to rely on us to tailor their spaces commencing from concept, renderings, to contractor tenders and project management. Collectively, this new combination of services allows clients to let go of the stress involved in redesigning their own spaces, and we can help translate their dream home into reality.” Looks like there’s no stopping this forward thinker.
