America has a problem: Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter Tour is officially over. Over the summer, hundreds of thousands of people were graced with Queen B’s presence as she celebrated her album Cowboy Carter, for which she won her first (and long overdue) Album of the Year at the Grammys earlier this year. While the tour was quite short with only 32 stops across 9 cities, it was jam-packed with jaw-dropping outfits full of symbolism and nods to American culture.
From the stages to the streets, the Cowboy Carter Tour became a cultural phenomenon. Fans were so inspired by her looks on the tour that they matched her energy by showing up in cowboy boots, hats and bandanas, fueling a craze for Western aesthetics in fashion. So saddle up, because we’re about to look back on the best looks that Beyoncé gave us on the Cowboy Carter Tour, from star-spangled bodysuits to Levi’s jeans.
They’ll never take the country out of her
“My family live and died in America,” Beyoncé says on Cowboy Carter, so she had to pay homage to her homeland when she toured the album. She made it special in her hometown, Houston, when she stepped out in a custom Rabanne minidress. The dress featured an asymmetrical American flag design with gold fringes lined at the end.
But Beyoncé didn’t stop there—she brought her patriotism overseas. At her London show, Burberry dressed her in a sparkling blue bodysuit paired with bedazzled American flag trousers, adorned with Swarovski crystal fringes.
Denim on denim on denim on denim
Who goes to a cowboy-themed concert and doesn’t wear denim? Beyoncé certainly did not make that mistake. With a song called “LEVII’S JEANS” on the album, it was only natural for her to incorporate the quintessential denim brand into her wardrobe. Levi’s made a custom white bodysuit for Beyoncé, printed with the brand logo and embellished with Swarovski crystals. She then paired it with custom chaps covered in rhinestones in the pattern of the American flag, a patchwork, floor-length cape made from vintage Levi’s jeans and a matching denim cowboy hat.
Beyoncé kept the denim theme alive at her New York show, wearing a custom Telfar bodysuit paired with denim chaps covered in crystals. She completed the look with Santoni denim boots and Tiffany & Co. sunglasses. It was a bold, sparkling tribute to the material that defines American style.
Western patterns for days
With Cowboy Carter, Beyoncé stretched the boundaries of the country genre and remade it in her own image, and she brought the same innovation to her Western-inspired looks for the tour. Patterns traditionally associated with cowboys, like plaid and paisley, were reimagined and cleverly incorporated into several of her outfits.
Loewe designed a red-and-black plaid skirt, wrapped around her waist and secured with a bold cowboy belt buckle, which Beyoncé debuted at the Los Angeles show. At the Paris stop of the tour, Beyoncé wore another custom Loewe creation—a red, crystallised paisley bodysuit, styled over distressed denim shorts and paired with loose, bedazzled ankle boots.
Fringes are a must
Fringes are almost always seen at a Cowboy Carter concert for some sweet honey buckin’. For her Atlanta show, Beyoncé wore a white corset bodysuit from Dolce & Gabbana with pointed cups, pairing it with a cropped jacket and cowboy chaps, both bedazzled and lined with satin fringes. The crowd in Houston also saw a stunning David Koma look: a red minidress with a star cut out in the centre, thigh-high leather boots and gloves lined with long, long fringes.
Coats for the goat
When Beyoncé wanted to dial up the drama, she added body-length coats to her already impeccable bodysuits. In London, Ferragamo dressed her in a black leather corset bodysuit and an intarsia shearling coat that was fit for a queen like Beyoncé. In another memorable coat moment, she wore a brown leather jacket from MM6 Maison Margiela with a faux fur coat from Cultnaked. Fan her off, she’s hot, hot, hot.

Beyoncé proves why she’s been the number 1 diva in this game for a minute with one of the most recognisable looks from this tour. As she performs the second act of the concert, she wears a trench from Diesel with a matching bodysuit, pant boots and gloves. The whole ensemble is printed with song titles from her discography in the style of a newspaper. You can’t get any more iconic than that.
