French art director and model Julia Restoin Roitfeld knows a thing or two about Parisian style. As the daughter of famed French fashion editor Carine Roitfeld and the founder of her own lifestyle platforms, Julia has a personal style that breaths the timeless elegance of “less is more” dressing. Her latest project teams up with The Outnet’s in-house label Iris & Ink for an exclusive capsule collection of all-black evening essentials to be worn forever and especially suited for the festive party season. “The timing was perfect,” recalls Julia on the collaboration, “they approached me to design a capsule collection of essential dresses and I was looking for someone to partner with to design my collection!”

The six-look collection features five dresses including a day-to-night silk slip, cocktail mini dress, tuxedo blazer dress and full-length velvet gown, as well as a sleek tailored jumpsuit, offering a complete edit of wardrobe essentials. “I am proud to be behind the creative side of the collaboration from the sketches to the choice of materials and the fittings. I was very lucky that The Outnet gave me the opportunity to design exactly what I wanted while being able to learn from their expertise.”

Below, we catch up with Julia Restoin Roitfeld on her signature style and wardrobe essentials.

What’s your “everyday uniform”?
Usually a black pair of jeans, black t-shirt, and stiletto heels. But in the evening, mostly a black dress.

What is the most-worn piece of clothing in your wardrobe?
A black slip dress. I wear it at the beach as well as at work and even in the winter with a sweater on top.

What is your signature colour palette?
Black and leopard print mixed with a bit of denim sometimes.

What is one fashion trend from this season that you won’t follow?
I don’t follow trends. It’s too exhausting and not sustainable in any way. I like to stick to being me, to my uniform and to what I know looks good on me. We are in a crucial era where the way we consume will determine our future and I think we really must think about the way we consume, think long term, rather than by ever-changing trends!
