每年，Met Gala的紅地毯都是明星們盡情展現風格的舞台。只要遵循主題，幾乎所有的時尚規則都可以被打破。然而，早期的Met Gala其實更像傳統晚會，男士們通常要遵循相當保守的着裝規範，大多選擇款式經典的西裝或禮服。
儘管不多，但在早期的Met Gala也有一些冒險者。2001年，Alan Cumming身穿紅色格紋裙走上博物館的階梯，當年的主題是「積琪蓮·甘迺迪：白宮歲月」(Jacqueline Kennedy: The White House Years)，與他的獨特服裝並無實際聯繫；2006年，已故設計師Alexander McQueen也在紅毯上穿著格紋圖案，並與當晚的伴侶Sarah Jessica Parker互相匹配，像在向他的蘇格蘭根源致敬。還有2012年，Marc Jacobs穿著Comme des Garçons的喱士裙搭配四角褲，他後來表示：「我就是不想穿西裝，顯得無聊。」
進入2010年代，男裝時裝騷出現越來越多實驗性風格，Met Gala上的男星開始更自由地展現風格。正如Jacobs所說，「無聊」不再被接受。西裝被淘汰，非傳統造型成為主流。過去10年，一些最佳造型完全突破了常規。2017年，Jaden Smith在紅毯上攜帶自己的辮子作為配飾，成為極具個性的例子。其他成功的造型完美與主題契合，例如Chadwick Boseman在2018年「天體之美」（Heavenly Bodies）主題下，穿著天使般的Versace斗篷；或是Jared Leto在2019年從頭到腳充滿Camp風格的造型，手下夾著由Gucci的Alessandro Michele設計的假頭顱。
在2021年以美國時尚為主題的Met Gala上，男士們將戲劇化的紅毯風格推向了全新高度。饒舌歌手Lil Nas X一次過展現3套大膽的Versace作品，包括華麗的斗篷、金色盔甲和閃耀的緊身衣。A$AP Rocky也穿著一件絨面ERL斗篷，完美搭配Rihanna蓬鬆的Balenciaga造型。在2022年，Jared Leto、Gunna和Alton Mason則以最佳的鍍金時代西裝造型現身。
最近，在2023年致敬Karl Lagerfeld的晚會上，Jeremy Pope選擇了一件戲劇性的Balmain斗篷，延伸出長長的拖尾，上面呈現了該位已故設計師的肖像。Alton Mason同樣穿著Balmain，化身Lagerfeld標誌性的Chanel新娘。去2024年，Morgan Spector和Colman Domingo以尖肩Willy Chavarria西裝脫穎而出。Bad Bunny則選擇了更具前衛感的Maison Margiela解構主義西裝，還搭配了戲劇性的帽子。
