Nostalgia style has come into play, hybrid shoes are on the rise, and the shoe we all have in our closets is now a style icon. The collection of the hottest summer shoe styles in 2025 is cheeky, feminine, and seductive. Read on to find out who these beauties are.
Bounce In Bliss
To the girls who grew up in the 90s: the pool party shoes of your childhood have come back into fashion (Feel old yet?). While the fisherman sandal silhouette remains popular, with nods of approval from Lisa of Blackpink, wearing PVC on the sole has taken on a myriad of different shapes and styles. The Row’s controversial glove-style Mara flat came and went in 2024, Chemena Kamali introduced a heeled version with buckle fastenings to Chloé’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection, and Jimmy Choo created a jelly Mary Jane with crystal embellishments. It’s time to slip into the jelly shoes this summer, if not just for a touch of nostalgia.
Twirl and Tread
The sneaker and ballet flat hybrid lends a touch of femininity to the casual sneaker. Both footwear giants Adidas and Puma gave their traditional low-profile silhouettes a ballerina makeover. The former added criss-cross strings to its Taekwondo model, while the latter launched the Speedcat Ballet Flat, which clinched third place in The Lyst’s Q1 Index, reflecting strong global demand. Even the world’s most luxurious fashion houses like Louis Vuitton and Miu Miu have offered their takes. Of course, sneakerinas are available in maximalist styles too, with Camper and Simone Rocha’s rendition boasting thick cushioning to stack on the height.
The Wooden Walk
This summer, the fashion-forward is in a 70’s mood. Clunky though inexplicably chic, the clog is resurging as everyone’s bohemian best friend. Spotted across the runways at Miu Miu and Hermés, clogs are paired with baggy leather bottoms and slim-fit pants with an activewear character — while these wedged shoes were a popular fashion choice in the 70s, they’ve expanded far beyond their bohemian nature.
Flip The Script
It feels unnecessary to point out that flip flops are ‘in’ for summer, but the thonged sandal has been elevated from beach essential to an everyday shoe. It’s the perfect no-brainer option for all looks — quiet enough to match anything and just sleek enough to add a casual character to otherwise stuffy outfits. In 2025, the thong sandal is a fashion statement. There’s just no fighting it.
