Taiwan: Gold for women’s weightlifting

Weightlifter Kuo Hsing-chun brought Taiwan their first gold medal from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics for the women’s 59kg weight class.

Japan: Gold for Judo

Uta won the women’s 52-kilogram division just hours before her older brother Hifumi won the men’s 66-kg gold medal. Uta is the first Japanese gold medalist in her division as well as the  youngest champion yet to win in Judo.

Jun Mizutani and Ito Mima Ito made history after the mixed doubles pair beat Xu Xin and Liu Shiwen of China with a score of 4-3. China had previously won 28 of 32 golds in Olympic table tennis history.
