Paying homage to the Dior 2021 cruise collection, creative director of the fashion house’s fine jewellery line Victoire de Castellane skilfully incorporates tie-dye elements into its latest assemblage, Tie & Dior. From rings and bracelets to earrings and necklaces, the expansive collection is charaterised by dainty, polychromatic stones in round, oval, pear and marquise cuts, intentionally mimicking the asymmetrical rings created by the textile dyeing technique. Reflecting the Dior jewellery atelier’s craftsmanship and attention to detail, pearls can be seen positioned off-centre, highlighting the intensity of the close-cushioned rubies, sapphires, emeralds and gray spinels. Platinum, white, yellow and pink gold resonate well with the vibrant chromatic palette of the sartorial designs.
Alongside Tie & Dior, the brand is launching two other Haute Joaillerie and Holorgerie ranges, including Dior et Moi and Gem Dior. The former features two distinct gems set close to one another – a strong symbol of love and romance ever since Napolean Bonaparte offered this style to his wife in 1796. Timepieces are encrusted in a sea of shimmering diamonds or embellished with the pattern of exotic peacock or Italian rooster feathers. Gem Dior sees more unorthodox designs, layering bright-coloured lacquer on white gold or pairing precious stones with darkened silver or rock crystal to echo the key features of the brand’s Haute Couture.
The pieces were showcased in a Dior Haute Joaillerie exhibition in Hong Kong’s Tai Kwun, where a total of 151 pieces were accompanied by a private cafe with a theme inspired by Christian Dior’s love for gardening. The interior was decorated with an abundance of tropical plants, fruits and flowers while small bites and tea was served with tableware in the label’s iconic Quatre Saisons motif, reflective of a picnic at Monsieur Dior’s private garden.
